Social Skills
Helping Children Build Meaningful Connections
At Bridging Behavior ABA, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to connect, communicate, and build friendships.
Social Skills Training is a key part of our ABA programs that helps children learn how to interact with others, understand social cues, and participate successfully in everyday situations — from playing with friends to working with classmates.
For many children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or social communication challenges, understanding and responding to social situations can be difficult. Our goal is to help each child develop the skills and confidence needed to build lasting, positive relationships at home, school, and in the community.

What are Social Skills?
Social skills are the behaviors and abilities we use to communicate and interact effectively with others. These include:
-
Making and maintaining eye contact
-
Taking turns in play or conversation
-
Sharing and cooperating
-
Understanding emotions (our own and others’)
-
Responding to greetings and social cues
-
Starting and maintaining conversations
-
Managing frustration or disappointment appropriately
-
Showing empathy and kindness
Strong social skills allow children to build friendships, work in groups, and feel confident in social settings — skills that contribute greatly to emotional well-being and lifelong success.

Why Social Skills Training Matters

Children with autism or developmental differences may struggle to interpret nonverbal cues, understand the “hidden rules” of social interaction, or know how to join in group activities.
Without direct teaching, these challenges can lead to isolation, frustration, or missed opportunities for connection.
Social Skills Training gives children the tools they need to:
-
Develop friendships and positive peer relationships
-
Increase confidence in group settings
-
Communicate needs and emotions appropriately
-
Reduce social anxiety and frustration
-
Learn cooperation, empathy, and problem-solving
Our team uses evidence-based methods to help children build these skills step by step — in ways that are fun, motivating, and meaningful.
